Lily Tomlin: 'Men, At Last, Are Getting the Recognition They Deserve'

Living human treasures Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda were tapped to announce the award for Best Actor in a TV Series-Musical or Comedy, and used the opportunity to lament the lack of opportunities for men in comedy.

After a couple of jokes about Tomlin being high as fuck at points in the last 30 years, they got down to the urgent business of recognizing men for their accomplishments.

Remarked Fonda, “You know, it’s nice—it’s nice—that men, at last, are getting the recognition they deserve for being good at comedy.”

Tomlin added, “I know, I know. Finally, we can put at rest that negative stereotype that men just aren’t funny.”

“You’ve come a long way, baby!” Fonda exclaimed.

It’s true. What a year for men.
