Lady Gaga Confused a Mariachi Festival With Chicago Pride

On Sunday, as Lady Gaga stood on the balcony of her Chicago high rise watching the crowds below cheering and dancing, she couldn’t help but smile. After all—she was witnessing history. She was witnessing true pride. She was witnessing the first annual Chicago Mariachi and Folklórico Festival.

Only Lady Gaga didn’t know it was the first annual Chicago Mariachi and Folklórico Festival. As Chicagoist reported today, she thought she was watching Chicago Pride. In a photo posted to both Instagram and Facebook, Mother Monster wrote:

Watching over Chicago Pride from my apartment and smiling so big. So many happy people. Happy pride!! #lovewins

The city’s Pride Parade, as one Chicago resident pointed out on Twitter, is held in Boystown – located five miles away from the Jay Pritzker Pavilion she photographed from her window. It looks like Gaga can’t read her, can’t read her, no she can’t read her Google map:

“Fi-fi-fi-fi-fi-fi-fi-five miles away.”

Despite the mixup, I presume Gaga—like anyone—would have had a blast at either event.
