Kevin Hart Goes Off on His Ex-Wife With a Textbook Twitter Rant

Latest

Kevin Hart’s not exactly known for being quiet – see his recent feud with Mike Epps – but comments this week by his ex-wife, comedian/writer/producer Torrei Hart about his current girlfriend, model Eniko Parrish, seem to have pushed him over the edge.

In an interview with ET promoting her new show Atlanta Exes Tuesday, Torrei said that Hart cheated on her with Parrish and that it’s hard to see them together:

I never lashed out. I never tried to punch her in the face, even though I’ve had moments where — trust and believe — I wanted to K.O. her ass.

This isn’t even close to the first time Torrei has spoken out about her distaste with Hart and Parrish’s relationship (or the first time Hart has responded), though her new comments are because she’s in the midst of doing publicity for the new show Atlanta Exes. In a statement to ET, Hart said, “I wish Torrei nothing but the best and hope that she can find happiness like I did.” Last night he also tweeted, “It’s amazing what people do for attention…all I can do is laugh at a lot of this ridiculousness.”

What a difference a poor night’s sleep makes! Today Hart sent a long series of tweets about the situation. Though Hart has admitted in the past that he did cheat on Torrei, in his rant, Hart differentiated himself from his ex-wife by claiming that he doesn’t make negative comments about her in public (while also sort of making negative comments about her):

After his outburst, Torrei told TMZ that “Despite what Kevin has said, and the time frames he is trying to establish, she was his mistress and was one of the reasons that broke up my family.”

“Show some respect, show some compassion, take ownership,” she added. “Don’t run to Twitter like you’re in 12th grade. Be a grown man, own up to your shit.”

While much of Hart’s decision to not remain silent on the issue probably has to do with his mercurial temperament, it’s also in his best financial interest to be publicly feuding with Torrei. If the amount of child support/alimony Hart gives her is a point of contention in their relationship, it would only help him if Atlanta Exes – which premieres in August – does well. When the pair finally settled their divorce in 2013, Torrei was far more positive about the state of their relationship, saying that, “Although things have been up and down, Kevin and I are actually really good friends.” Also that year, she said, “I don’t want my kids to ever see us not getting along or to feel like, ‘My parents can’t get along.’ I feel like if you just put the kids first then you can do it.”

An alternative theory: perhaps the two got together in the first place because they’re both dramatic loose cannons.
