Noted Fabulist James Frey Sells YA Book Series to HarperCollins

Discredited memoir author and former Gawker intern James Frey has just signed a mega deal with publisher HarperCollins to produce a young-adult book series.

Eight years after the news broke that Frey fabricated parts of his bestselling memoir “A Million Little Pieces,” the author is back in the news, this time for landing a multibook deal that will probably make him a millionbillionschmegajillionaire. And no, no one blogging tonight is bitter about that all, in case you were wondering.

The publisher announced Wednesday that Frey’s production company, Full
Fathom Five, will turn out three novels and nine novellas. The project
also includes YouTube videos, gaming designed by Google’s Niantic Labs
and social media. Twentieth Century Fox has acquired film rights.

The first book will be “Endgame: The Calling.” It is due out in October and will be co-authored by Nils Johnson-Shelton.

Frey has already written YA for HarperCollins with Jobie Hughes under the collective pseudonym Pittacus Lore. People on Twitter seem really happy.
