Girl Most Likely tells the story of a woman (Kristen Wiig) who, after having a nervous breakdown, must move back in with her mother (Annette Bening) in New Jersey only to find her childhood bedroom has been rented out to a handsome 20-something (Darren Criss). From the trailer, it looks like the movie will mostly be about a mom and daughter repairing their broken relationship, but let's get down to brass tacks — Wiig and Criss totally do it.
This will be Wiig's first starring role since the box office smash Bridesmaids and, despite a solid cast (does anyone do endearing/creepy/stupid quite like Matt Dillon?), the film received mixed reviews when it premiered under the name Imogene at TIFF. Since then, it's gone under the knife and gotten a fresh edit along with a new name. That might not be enough to get you to the movies, but consider this: Darren Criss' character is in a Backstreet Boys cover band. Do what you will with that information.
P.S. Is putting Icona Pop's "I Love It" in trailers the new putting "No Church In The Wild" in trailers? Discuss.
