​Florida Man Jeb Bush Officially Exploring 2016 Presidential Candidacy

We’ve got just under two years before the next presidential election and the Republican party has its first tentative candidate: former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush. This morning, he took to social media to announce his plans to seriously consider that president thing his dad and brother did for a while. After all, it is a family business.

In the Facebook message (because he’s a man of the people you see) Jeb, best known for pushing for standardized testing (generously rewarding the schools who performed well), holding back third graders who couldn’t read good, and championing for-profit virtual education, wrote about his recent Thanksgiving celebration. After describing his day watching football and eating with his family, he added:

We also talked about the future of our nation. As a result of these conversations and thoughtful consideration of the kind of strong leadership I think America needs, I have decided to actively explore the possibility of running for President of the United States.

In January, I also plan to establish a Leadership PAC that will help me facilitate conversations with citizens across America to discuss the most critical challenges facing our exceptional nation. The PAC’s purpose will be to support leaders, ideas and policies that will expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans.

In the coming months, I hope to visit with many of you and have a conversation about restoring the promise of America.

Honestly, every single Thanksgiving dinner in America includes some family member telling another member they should run for president (mostly sarcastically and definitely drunkenly), but it looks like Jeb was the only person who actually took it to heart.

For those of you who are worried (perhaps due to that CIA torture thing) about the lack of transparency in a potential third, YES THIRD, Bush administration (for a moment I thought I had deja vu, but it was actually a slight concussion from banging my head on my desk), don’t worry. Jeb’s already leaking his own emails. Over the weekend, Bush said that he is writing an e-book and will be releasing 250,000 emails from his time in office, stating, “I was digital before digital was cool, I guess.”

Of course Jeb’s the Hipster Bush. He’s got the glasses and everything.
