Elisabeth Hasselbeck And Bill Maher Resume Their Entertaining Feud

Latest

The battle between comedian Bill Maher and the View‘s overly-sensitive Republican talking head/target Elisabeth Hasselbeck wages on, as Maher appeared on the show today. The topic of discussion? A joke Maher made in February in which she happened to be the punchline. Hasselbeck asked if she could “bring something up” and proceeded recite the joke in question — roughly, that Mubarak had “released” Lara Logan after her rape, and she was sent home in exchange for Elisabeth Hasselbeck — and then said, “You can’t sit here right now and tell me I’m wrong for saying that wasn’t that funny.” Cue mutual snippiness and, on Hasselbeck’s part, borderline voice-raising. Great mid-morning television, actually.

Finally the conversation moves on to the Republican presidential candidates; when Bill Maher suggests that the party “doesn’t care about knowledge,” Elisabeth quips, “‘Cause you’re so brilliant, wow, I actually feel smarter sitting next to you.” Without skipping a beat Maher retorts, “Really? Because I feel like I’m in high school sitting next to you.”
