Clint Eastwood's Bad Caitlyn Jenner 'Joke' Cut From Guys Choice Awards

Latest

Clint Eastwood, a famous old coot with a history of grunting at empty chairs, made a Caitlyn Jenner “joke” during the filming of the Guys Choice Awards over the weekend. The 85-year-old director of last year’s highest-grossing movie was a presenter at the ceremony, reports EW, but his appearance will be edited when aired on Spike later this month.

While introducing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on Saturday night at the event, Eastwood listed off some other athletes who have tried their hand at acting, including “Jim Brown and Caitlyn Somebody…”

After reading EW’s headline I expected some kind of blatant transphobic remark, but Eastwood’s reference to Caitlyn Jenner comes off less like a joke and more like the incoherent ramblings of an octogenarian who’s having trouble either remembering names or reading a teleprompter. Eastwood has been a near-constant figure in popular culture for decades, but I think it might be time to for him to cut back on the public speaking and avoid risking his reputation yet again.

All the bad jokes that didn’t get cut from the Guys Choice Awards can be seen June 18 on Spike.
