Cat Attack Sends Three to Hospital

Latest

Fire fighters were called to a home in Roseville, California on Tuesday where a family was being terrorized by their housecat. The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, called authorities when Khat (I don’t know why that name is terrifying to me) attacked the owner’s sister, mother, and brother, sending them to the hospital with superficial wounds.

The cat, pictured above, attacked with no provocation according to the owner. Khat had apparently always been even-tempered and no one on the scene could explain why Khat became aggressive, attacking the owner’s relatives in the face, arms, and legs.

The family called animal control, which was closed, so the fire department had to come in with a fire blanket and a pole.

It was “absolutely a first for us,” Fire Captain Derek Carey said. “We tried to push it into a cage, and it grabbed on to my engineer’s boot and turnout bottom and was hissing and going off.”

That actually sounds pretty horrific. The cat is currently at the ASPCA. The family was treated and released from the hospital.
