Be Mesmerized by Joseph Gordon Levitt's 'Rhythm Nation' Performance

Latest

Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently paid tribute to Janet Jackson on Lip Sync Battle and it may be the best performance the show has seen so far. Gordon-Levitt appeared on a holiday-themed episode with Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie to promote their new film, The Night Before.

After Mackie performed a leotard-wearing rendition of MC Hammer’s “2 Legit 2 Quit,” Gordon-Levitt paid tribute to Janet Jackson’s 1989 hit, “Rhythm Nation.” He gets properly decked out in the same military-inspired attire seen in the music video: an all-black outfit complete with metal hardware, gloves, a baseball hat and a ponytail. The only thing missing was an earring in the shape of a key — a vital part of Jackson’s famous outfit, but I will overlook it because his performance is so good, it’s uncanny.

Other performances by the two co-stars included JGL singing Usher’s “Yeah!,” and Mackie doing Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl,” reports EW. The Night Before is currently out in theaters.
