Today was an important day: we were informed that the potential latest hot trend is belly button rings worn by men. Over at The Cut, Kat Stoeffel interviewed a man who chose to get one, despite the fact that there’s a “stigma that it’s effeminate” for men. He told Stoeffel that when he decided to get belly button pierced a year ago, he got an amethyst stone before changing to stainless steel. Originally, “I was like, I wanna go hard,” Emanuel Salazar said.
Perhaps Salazar is part of a growing contingent of men who want their belly buttons to be as adorned as those of women. Perhaps not. But does a belly button ring truly make a man look too effeminate? We’ve tested out the look on a few of the men considered the sexiest in today’s culture. You tell us.
