Another Awesome Hero Cat Saves Man From Deadly House Fire

A cat in Australia is being hailed as a hero after she rescued her owner from a house fire.

It’s another case of a hero cat performing a life saving rescue. Around 1 a.m. on Monday morning, Craig Geeves, 49, was sleeping soundly in bed at his home in a Melbourne suburb. He was woken up suddenly by his cat, Sally, who was standing on his head and meowing loudly. It was then that Geeves realized his home was quickly becoming engulfed in flames, as a massive blaze broke out. “She saved my life,” Geeves told reporters. Via the Australian Broadcasting Corporation:

“She was standing on my head screaming, the loudest scream I’ve ever heard from a cat screaming at me and then I smelt the smoke and jumped out of bed.”
[…]
Mr Geeves said he got out of bed, grabbed [Sally] and ran outside. “I just just held her, she was scared as, she was hunkering down into me and I took her up to the neighbours and they took care of her for the night,” he said.

Fire officials on the scene said Geeves was lucky to be alive. According to The home was totally destroyed but they did manage to stop it from destroying other nearby properties.

Sure, maybe the cat was just complaining about the sudden change in temperature: “PUNY HUMAN. AWAKEN THIS INSTANT AND REMOVE ME FROM THIS DOMICILE. WAKE UP AND TAKE ME TO A MORE SUITABLE ENVIRONMENT AT ONCE.”

So, cats. Either they are literally terrorizing you in your own home or they are heroically trying to save your life. We may never figure them out.
