American Sisters Arrested for Taking Nude Photos in Cambodian Temple

If there’s a new and innovative way to confirm to the world that Americans are entitled jerks, then sisters Lindsey and Leslie Adams from Prescott, Arizona, have found it.

The sisters decided that it would be an awesome idea to strip off their clothes for cool photo shoot in Angkor Wat temple, one of Cambodia’s most sacred Buddhist temples. According to local police, “lowered their pants to their knees and took pictures of their buttocks.”

Chau Sun Kerya, spokeswoman for the Apsara Authority (the group that manages Angkor), said the sisters’ actions were “deeply offensive” because Angkor is considered sacred ground. “Perhaps they did not know Angkor is a holy site. But their inappropriate activities affect the sanctity of the place,” she told AFP. “The two tourists admitted that they really made a mistake by taking nude photos.”

The Daily Mail reports that the women were charged with “indecent trafficking pornography and exposing sexual organs.” The sisters were fined, given suspended jail sentences, and banned from entering Cambodia for the next four years.
