Here's the trailer for Netflix's first female-led series, Orange Is The New Black. It was created by Jenji Kohan, (who created and won Emmys for Weeds) and is based on a memoir by Piper Kerman.
According to Women And Hollywood, Taylor Schilling plays Piper,
a woman who has a comfortable life with her fiance, until a drug smuggling charge from her past reappears. Piper is sentenced to a year in prison which changes everything.
While it's not exactly Oz, the series looks like it will tackle classism, race-relations, lesbianism and the penal system with a sense of humor — and totally pass the Bechdel test while doing so. Apparently prison is just like the Hamptons, only fucking horrible.
