Gabby Douglas Scores Perfect 10 on Challenging 'Pledge of Allegiance' Apparatus

Olympic double gold medalist and cute-as-a-button living American Girl doll Gabby Douglas led the Democratic National Convention in the Pledge of Allegiance yesterday. She did not flip onto or off of the stage, and despite the fact that NBC gymnastics analyst Elfi Schlegel speculated in a concerned, hushed voice that her lack of difficulty would translate to a “big, big deduction,” she still took home the gold medal in adorable. Not that the Russians had a shot.

Douglas’ stint leading the Pledge came at the beginning of the night’s proceedings, which also featured speeches from such she-roes as Sandra Fluke and Elizabeth Warren. Unfortunately, there were no more Carina Victoria Castro sightings.
