Jared Lee Loughner Ordered To Undergo Mental Evaluation

Yesterday U.S. District Judge Larry Burns ordered Jared Lee Loughner to undergo a mental evaluation at a facility in Missouri by April 29. Burns said the purpose of the exam is only to determine if Loughner is competent to stand trial, not what his mental state was during the Arizona shooting. His lawyers haven’t revealed if they’ll present an insanity defense.
