Justin Timberlake Is A "Pussy" In The Friends With Benefits Trailer

As far as all-white cast heteronormative sexual romp romcoms go, Friends With Benefits looks fairly standard. Directed by Will Gluck — who also did Easy A and Fired Up! — the plot isn’t exactly high-concept: Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis play friends who’ve recently been dumped by their respective paramours. They decide to be fuck buddies; hilarity ensues. If any of this sounds familiar, perhaps it’s because you’ve seen When Harry Met Sally or No Strings Attached. Timberlake’s character is obviously in touch with his feminine side — he says “emotionally supportive” things and has a gay best friend. Kunis is a snarky tomboy type, who chest-bumps, climbs fences and calls Timberlake a pussy. Based on the trailer, the film is set up to be the anti-romcom romcom — Kunis’s character even calls romcom queen Katherine Heigl a “stupid liar.” In real life, plenty of women have sex with a guy friend, realize they’ve made a terrible mistake, and move on, but in this movie, Kunis’ character falls for Timberlake, obvs. Maybe because it took four people to write the screenplay, and they’re all men? On the upside, Timberlake has good comedic timing and is funny when he sings. He should just join the cast of SNL.
