Gangs of women in Zimbabwe have been capturing male hitchhikers — sometimes by drugging them, other times by holding them up with guns, knives, or LIVE SNAKES — and raping them so they can harvest their sperm for good luck. No, you didn't read that wrong. From the Telegraph:

The sperm's exact use is not clear but is thought to be intended for "juju" or traditional rituals to bring luck – anything from enhancing good fortune, boosting business or preventing a criminal from being detected. It is also not known why the semen is taken forcibly from strangers."It's really an issue which is mind boggling," said University of Zimbabwe sociologist Watch Ruparanganda, who believes it is a lucrative business. "It's quite a big mystery."

The police believe a "big racket" is behind the sperm-stealing, and are encouraging men to take public transport, since most incidents occur when victims are hitchhiking or boarding private vehicles. The Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association is "totally against" the idea, not because it's terrifying that gangs of women are serially raping men, but because they believe it's "witchcraft." Some Zimbabwean feminists are frustrated that the male rape victims are receiving so much attention, since violence against the country's women is not taken as seriously. Excellent point — although, it's hard to ignore the concept of a ritualistic sperm-harvesting girl gang.
