A special paid-tier of Tinder with several shiny, special features is finally coming to the US of A.
Those in Canada, the UK, Mexico, and Germany already have access to Tinder Gold, which costs $4.99 a month, but it’s now coming to Americans in September. With Gold, you’ll get unlimited likes, five “super likes” a day, and a feature called “Likes You” in which you get to see who has already swiped right on you. It will also let you re-do accidental swipes with a rewind feature, something you could already opt to do with Tinder Plus.
Tinder’s really been framing it as a ~ luxury ~ service, perhaps to seem more like elitist celebrity dating app Raya. “We know you. You live in a world where every moment counts—where speed equals success, you’re always on the go, and you can’t let anything slow you down,” the announcement for the service reads. “Especially your Tinder feed.” Okay, relax.
My question is, if Tinder Gold becomes standard, and everyone is waiting to see if a person has already swiped right on them so they can swipe right, then will any swipes actually happen? I can see it now, all of us staring at our empty “Likes You” page before we eventually throw our iPhones out to sea...
