Entertainment Weekly recently posted its list of the "25 Most Romantic Movies Of The Past 25 Years." On the list: Amelie, Titanic, and Eternal Sunshine. Missing from the list? The Notebook. And don't think the commenters didn't notice!
The list apparently pissed a lot of people off; there are currently over 10 pages of comments, with the great majority of them bitching about the omission of the Notebook, which apparently IS THE MOST ROMANTIC MOVIE EVER OMG! Seriously, you guys, if there's one thing I've learned from reading through these comments, it's that one should never mess with fans of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Observe:

This list is preposterous!! , With having 'There's Something About Mary' so high up sounds like a bunch of 'dudes' voted on this list. I'm sure the 'women' would not have forgotten 'Notebook', 'A Walk To Remember', 'Sabrina' and others. 'Pretty Woman' would not have been so far down on the list either.
"Women" apparently do not forget things like The Notebook. "Dudes," however, like comedies! Oh, dudes and women! Who can figure your wacky ways out quite like Trebo12? Nobody, that's who!

no "Notebook"...wow. um, okay.
Ah, the ol' "um, okay." Passive-aggressiveness at its finest.

OMG! Where is The Notebook? Probably the most romantic movie ever. And I agree with whoever said Love Actually should be on this list also.
OMG! Why are you ruining romance forever, Entertainment Weekly? Why!?!

Who wrote this list? There's Something about Mary? The movie with semen in her hair?!? And you don't even include the amazing chemistry of Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in The Notebook?
Not semen! Oh god no! We want romance, people, not like, actual body fluids. That's just unladylike! Nobody had semen in their hair in The Notebook, that's for true!

WHERE THE HELL IS THE NOTEBOOK??? Come on. Something is wrong with EW.Andrea Tue, Mar 03, 09 at 10:57 PM
WTF??? Where is The Notebook? When I saw this in the theater, all of the women went in a single file line to the restroom to wipe our eyes with TP. I'm really surprised at you, EW.
This movie made women cry. Don't you realize how romantic that is, EW? What the hell is wrong with you? They wiped their eyes with toilet paper. Toilet paper!!!! My god, don't you understand what they've been through? I am shocked and appalled at you, EW.

What the h@ll??? WHERE IS "THE NOTEBOOK"????????????????? That movie is the greatest romantic movie of the new millenium. I am shocked that you did not include that movie on this list. And you include crap like "Moulin Rouge" and "Lost in Translation"???? You guys have lost your mind. Also, what about "Sleepless in Seattle" and even "Australia"??? Nicole Kidman was so much better in that movie. I LOVED "Austrailia"!!! An epic movie with everything a love story is supposed to have.
I'll get back to you on this one as soon as my eyes recover from the excess punctuation. I mean, what the h@ll?
Whaaat? Tue, Mar 03, 09 at 08:56 AM
Where on EARTH was the Notebook on this list?? I've seen is at least 25 times and everytime, even though I know what happens...I cry like a baby because of how strong their love is. Come on EW, get with the program!
Get with the program? Mom, didn't I tell you to stop commenting on EW lists?
Unpopular opinion time: I hate The Notebook. I know this means I need to take a CLASS IN ROMANCE but honestly, I found it to be one of the most depressing films I have ever seen. My mom dragged me to see it with her during a Saturday matinee; we were surrounded by silver-haired ladies who sat alone, with tissues in their laps. When the film ended, all you could hear were sniffles and sighs. It was seriously one of the most depressing experiences of my entire life. I think I'll stick with semen-haired romance, thanks. It may not be as romantic whatever Ryan and Rachel are up to, but when it comes to on-screen love, I guess I'd rather laugh than cry. Does anyone know where I can sign up for a class in romance?
