Woman Stabs Friend Outside Tennessee Haunted House After Given Real Knife She Mistook for a Prop
LatestAs we near Halloween of 2018 I suppose it’s only to be expected that the news will get more purge-y.
A local Fox affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee reported on Tuesday of a stabbing that occurred on Friday outside the Nashville Nightmare, a haunted house and “popular Halloween attraction in Madison.” The Tennessean reports that it’s so much more than that: “a horror-thrill campus with four separate ‘haunted houses,’ an escape room, carnival games, food vendors, and more.”
Metro Police wrote in their incident report that they were told a group of four friends were just outside the attraction when they were greeted by someone they all assumed was a character in the haunted house. You know, abundantly creepy. That individual, whose identity remains unknown, allegedly asked the woman if one of her friends (the Tennessean reports his name is James “Jay” Yochim) was “messing around with her.” The woman, who believed she was playing along, said “yes.”
So, according to the report, the unknown scary person handed the woman what she thought was a prop knife, saying, “well here, stab him.” She did, and there were immediate consequences: blood on the knife and “blood squirting from the victim’s left arm.” Medics responded and treated the friend for his injuries.
The woman told police she did not mean for harm to befall her friend, and the two other people in the group corroborated her story.
Yochim, 29, told the Tennessean that the stabbing occurred after he and his friends had a great time in the haunted chambers. “Keep in mind, we’d been chased by chainsaws, holding other weapons, all kinds of stuff all night, and it was all fake,” he said. “So she stabs at me with it, and everything got really black.”
