A woman in San Diego has pled not guilty to charges of felony DUI with injury and possession of a controlled substance after she drove the wrong way on a street and crashed into about 10 cyclists, leaving one paralyzed. When she was taken to a hospital to get checked out, a nurse found a bag of meth hidden in her vagina. Sigh.
Via NBC San Diego:
"Tell them I'm so sorry," she whispered to her attorney once the judge ordered her bail and set her next court hearing.
Owens was driving at about 30-35 mph on the wrong side of the road when she hit the group of cyclists going around a blind curve traveling at 25-30 mph. Owens was said to have been screaming and acting erratically when she got out of her car.
Six people went to the hospital, suffering from injuries. One man, 49-year-old Juan Carlos Vinolo, is in critical condition, paralyzed from the chest down after pushing another cyclist out of Owens' way. A GoFundMe page has been started for Vinolo and has raised nearly $94,000.
Owens' bail was set at $300,000.
