Very important SHOW BIZ news: There's a musical adaptation of The First Wives Club in the works, and it just announced its leading ladies. Unfortunately, this information comes too late to serve as a reminder that The First Wives Club would be a great group Halloween costume.
Variety reports that when the show premieres in Chicago early next year, Faith Prince, Christine Sherrill and Carmen Cusack will be stepping into the roles originated by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton. (Obviously the hope is to ride this thing all the way to Broadway.) The source material is being reworked for the stage by Designing Women creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason; expect more Motown than a sock hop down at the retirement home.
