We Can Now Listen to Trump Discuss Payments to Silence Former Playboy Model Karen McDougal

Politics

Last night, Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen released the audio of a conversation in which they discuss payments meant to further squash Playboy model Karen McDougal’s story of an affair with our current president. Great!

The recording, which was provided to CNN by Cohen’s attorney Lanny Davis, was made in September 2016, two months before the election. While the audio is murky at times, it appears to confirm that Trump knew of plans to pay $150,000 to American Media Inc., the publisher of the National Enquirer, for the rights to McDougal’s story. AMI, as you might recall, bought the exclusive rights to print McDougal’s claims about their affair and then subsequently killed the story.

You can listen to this cursed audio here if you must:

The recording is one of 12 audio tapes that the FBI seized from Cohen’s home and office earlier this year as part of its investigation into whether he and the Trump campaign violated campaign finance laws with his payments to women who claimed to have had affairs with Trump. Cohen has already admitted to paying $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about their alleged affair.

Trump took to Twitter Wednesday morning to rail against his former attorney:

Given that there are 11 more tapes (that we know of), it’s likely that more will trickle out over the coming weeks. Kill us now!!
