Watch This Reporter Try to Talk to Leonardo DiCaprio About Bear Rape

Latest

If there was ever such thing as a funny rape joke, it’s this E! reporter struggling to talk to Leonardo DiCaprio about the rumors that he gets raped by a bear in The Revenant.

“There were headlines, reports coming out—‘LEO RAPED BY BEAR.’ Just crazy over-the-top stories,” began presenter Zuri Hall. “What did you think—that people would even make that up has to be ridiculous.”

“I have no idea where these ridiculous things came from. And what can you do when you hear things like that? It’s absurd. It’s absurd,” replied DiCaprio.

As for where these ridiculous things came from, rumors began after Matt Drudge curiously published an article headlined “Leonardo DiCaprio Raped by Bear in Fox Movie” in early December. In it, Drudge wrote:

The explicit moment from Oscar winning director Alejandro Inarritu has caused maximum controversy in early screenings. Some in the audience escaped to the exits when the Wolf of Wall Street met the Grizzly of Yellowstone. The story of rural survivalism and revenge reaches new violent levels for a mainstream film. The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling. “He is raped — twice!”

Soon after the Drudge article began to circulate, a spokesperson from 20th Century Fox released the following statement to Entertainment Weekly:

“As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs. There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.”

Well, now that that’s been (consensually) put to bed, I guess the reporter will have to go back to haranguing Oscar-less Leo about award season.
