Julia Louis-Dreyfus completed her third round of chemo for breast cancer today with the moral support of her Veep costars, who made a nice, topical video to help pull her through. If you think this post can’t possibly contain any references to the many famous men accused of sexual assault in the last several weeks, you’re wrong! Video’s still good, though:
In it, Sam Richardson and Matt Walsh search the internet for motivational quotes to send to their pal, but are deterred upon realizing that all of the uplifting aphorisms they found come from terrible men. “I believe in one thing only: The power of human will,” Richardson reads. Perfe—no, whoops, that was Stalin, and whoops again, the next two are from Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein. Well, shit.
They settle for breaking into an enthusiastic rendition of “Eye of the Tiger,” and I had a brief, terrible moment where it occurred to me: Have any members of Survivor been accused of sexual harassment? Google turns up little of note for either songwriters Frankie Sullivan or Jim Peterik, except to say that Sullivan did not give Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk jailed for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, permission to use their tune during a celebration following her release. Thank god.
