Update: Millennium the Tortoise Is Home Safe and Sound

Last week, we covered the kidnapping of Millennium the African-spurred tortoise from an environmental center in Queens. I’m happy to report that he’s made it back home unharmed, according to the Alley Pond Environmental Center’s Facebook page!

Millennium was turned over to police after being obtained in “some sort of turtle trade,” according to NBC4 Washington. Other websites report that Millennium’s new owner located in Connecticut, and contacted authorities after recognizing Millennium from television reports about his disappearance. Millennium was recovered by police on Monday night.

He’s since been reunited with his keepers at Alley Pond and is enjoying a welcome home snack as of press time.
