Tonight there is finally a bit of good news and a resolution to the manhunt that followed a tragic murder and kidnapping in Tennessee. It began on April 27th, when a woman named JoAnn Bain and her three daughters were reported missing by JoAnn's husband and the stepfather of the girls. On May 5th, the bodies of JoAnn and her eldest daughter Adrienne were found in the backyard of home in Mississippi owned by a man named Adam Mayes, who had earlier admitted he was the last person to see the girls alive. He fled Tennessee after the police interviewed him the first time.
Since then, a massive search has been underway to locate Mayes and the remaining two daughters, Alexandra, 12, and Kyliyah, 8. Mayes had even been added to the FBI's Most Wanted List. It is thought that Mayes kidnapped the two younger girls because he obsessed with them and believed they were his daughters. The manhunt finally came to an end tonight in Union County, Mississippi, where law enforcement officials have found Mayes. There are some reports that he is dead and other reports that he is hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head. The most important news, however, is that the two girls are reported to have been found alive and are now safe. Mayes's wife Theresa has also been arrested and has confessed to helping Mayes with the murder of JoAnn and Adrienne.
Update: The suspect, Adam Mayes, has now been confirmed dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
