According to the Daily Dot, the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), a child protection charity in the U.K., were first notified late Sunday and quickly let their Twitter followers know about the situation.

The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) received reports on at least four accounts, which were investigated and shut down by Twitter. They're obligated by law to forward all the info to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which is the U.S. equivalent of CEOP.

Twitter hasn't commented yet but policy states:

We do not tolerate child sexual exploitation on Twitter.

When we are made aware of links to images of or content promoting child sexual exploitation they will be removed from the site without further notice and reported to The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children ("NCMEC"); we permanently suspend accounts promoting or containing updates with links to child sexual exploitation.

I'm sure as Twitter grows and grows, this will become an even bigger issue. Sad.

Who does this!?! I mean, if you were going to have child porn or whatever, why on earth would you think you could tweet that stuff? Maybe I just don't understand Twitter but isn't that asking to get busted?
