Topless Femen Activists Protest Putin and Putin Said He Liked It

Latest

Vladmir Putin, the Khal Drogo of Russia, has gotten his fair share of protestors, thanks to his administration’s less than friendly handling of critics of the administration i.e., the unexplained murders of countless journalists since he came into power, Pussy Riot, etc. etc.

During his visit to the Hanover trade fair in Germany, a group of three or four Ukrainian women topless women supposedly from the activist group Femen, who bared their breasts for “Topless Jihad” last week, rushed to Putin with “obscene” slogans written in Cyrillic script, shouting “dictator” as security guards quickly shoved them away.

Putin, who was standing next to Germany’s Angela Merkel visiting the Volkswagen AG stand (lol), wasn’t the least bit fazed by the protestors. In fact, he seemed genuinely pleased with being able to see some boob in the middle of his Volkswagen tour: “As for the protest, I liked it… To be honest, I didn’t really hear what they were shouting because the security [guards] were very tough. These huge guys fell on the lasses. That seemed not right to me, they could have been handled more gently.”

He went on to add, “I didn’t make out whether they were blondes, chestnut-haired or brunettes… We’ve all got used to these demonstrations and I don’t see anything terrible here.”

And by that he means he got to see some jiggling boobies, which isn’t a terrible thing at all for Mr. Putin. Merkel didn’t look too enthused about the Femen girls lunging towards her, but the creepy look on Putin’s face, along with his weird pout at one of the activists, leads one to believe Putin was pretty into it. Cool.

His bemusement continued as when he gave the activists a shout out: “say thank you to the Ukrainian girls, they helped you promote the trade fair.”

But while Putin himself took to the protestors and their boobs pretty well, the Kremlin had a harsher take: “This is ordinary hooliganism and unfortunately it happens all over the world, in any city. One needs to punish (them),” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Which all brings it back to the reason these activists protested Putin in the first place. “Hooliganism” was the charge brought up against members of Pussy Riot for their protest inside the Christ Savior Cathedral in Moscow this summer, and the Criminal Code of Russia uses it as a catch-all charge for prosecuting almost any kind of dissenter the administration disapproves of. But with a few jokes about boobs and a pout, Putin dismissed the topless protestors. If this were to happen on Putin’s home turf, though, he might not have been so amused by the activists and their boobies.
