"This Is Flippin' Fun": The Trailer For Sarah Palin's Alaska

"I'd rather be doing this than in some stuffy old political office," Sarah Palin says in the new trailer for her reality show. "I'd rather be out here being free." Promise?

She also drives a dogsled, kayaks, rides an ATV, and does that aw-shucks griping thing a lot, as phrases like "NO AGENDA" run across the screen. Also, Alaska is pretty!

Of course, Palin has still been dabbling in (into?) stuffy old politics. That sense that O'Donnell was taking a page from the Palin playbook is further substantiated by news that two key Palin advisors prepped O'Donnell for this week's "debate."

The ladies running in California have not been nearly so welcoming. Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are both blowing off Palin's appearances there late this week. Fiorina said coolly, "There are all sorts of people who have endorsed me that I don't appear with." This is probably because a poll last week showed that about 70 percent of California independents dislike Palin.

At last night's event, Palin showed her trademark way with words with the utterance, saying that Jerry Brown and Barbara Boxer "act like they're permanent residents of a unicorn ranch in fantasy land if they really think they're gonna be able to turn it around with the liberal policies they have to continue, and you know, it's pixie dust."

Does she prime every word for mockery? Even before the real trailer was released, the show concept spawned a small cottage industry of parody ads, which we can now compare with the real thing.

It the words of a famous politician, "All Politics is Local." There is a reason why why many Californians are not a fan of Ms. Palin. She has no grasp of the issues of California. Contrary to the lore of "librul lame stream media". California is far from libral. We have real problems. Most importantly, the issue of proposition 13 was a generation in the making and we are finally dealing with the fall out of a very conservative policy of capping property taxes based on the purchase price of your home and only raising taxes with 2/3's a majority of the assembly.

That is a real problem in the state. Something has to give. The fiscal conservatism has gone to the point of unsustainability. This woman doesn't know what she's talking about. I don't want to mock her and her pageant background, but sometimes you just have to smile and look pretty.
