There's About to Be an All-Nutella Restaurant in Brooklyn

A Nutella-themed restaurant is about to open in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, at least until Italian Nutella manufacturer Ferrero sues the pants off its owners.

No word yet on the menu's actual offerings (its website says "Please Pardon Our Appearance While We Update the Menu), although Grubstreet theorizes we'll see things like nutella-slathered breakfast pizzas and bacon-banana-Nutella waffle sandwiches. OK, that second one sounds pretty ridiculously good, and now I'm hoping this is actually a real thing that will happen at some point.

It's also unclear exactly when it's going to open: the theoretical proprietors have been barking hashtags since May 2013 but only just put up window signage this week. There's still no definite date on the restaurant's opening — which might be why there hasn't yet been a lawsuit.

Here's what's really interesting: we're about to get hit with a hazelnut shortage. Weather and disease have screwed with Turkish harvests recently, and since Turkey produces 70% of the world's hazelnuts, that's going to have an effect on the market. No word on how that's going to affect the restaurant's business model — assuming it ever actually gets off the ground and around the inevitable lawsuits.
