Although it was termed the Serpentine Gallery's "Summer Party," judging from the number of tights on display, last night was a chilly one in London! Nevertheless, Naomi Campbell, Bianca Jagger, Katy Perry, Joely Richardson and various other beautiful people showed up in full flower, many of them, by chance, rocking awesome 1940s silhouettes. Get a vicarious chill, after the jump!

The Good:

Yes, it's a little matchy, but I want to be wearing singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor's dress right. now. And by the way, can't you see Tracie just rocking this?

Joely Richardson 's frock took some consideration, but by the third view I was really digging it.

Doesn't a full-length brocade evening coat like Bianca Jagger 's just scream "grande dame?"

Yeah, this much September 9th white chafes a bit, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for a 40's silhouette like Meg Matthews'.

I gotta say, I don't think the harsh colors nor the styling do much for Kelly Hoppen, but the dress itself is very back-to-school cute.

That big splotch of red on the back of Jade Parfitt 's gown still baffles me, and she looks cold, but otherwise it's stunning.
The Bad:

Katy Perry would look cute in a sack. Which is good, because she's wearing a mini printed with llamas, and patent booties.

Zaha Hadid's face is that of someone who just realized she is wearing the most unflattering garment in the history of human events.

Don't you love how the lights make it look like it's red under the "scratches" in Heather Kerzner's Vegas-worthy lame? And by "love" I mean "find it really disturbing."

As stated, I love 40s shapes and I get that it was cold. But Tara Palmer-Tomkinson's ensemble is so matchy as to look uniform-like.
The Ugly:

Grayson Perry adds a dollop of "Fellini" to the proceedings.
