Scented plastic have been around for a while now: you probably already have a number of products in your house, from pens to hairbrushes. It's often a way to get rid of weird, funky chemical smells (though god knows I love the smell of petrol and mothballs, so I'm hardly one to judge).
But really, the scenting of everyday accessories has a long, long tradition: modern perfumery grew directly out of glove-makers' scents. Wigs, shoes, fabric, you name it, it's been scented. The only wonder is that glasses haven't been perfumed before.
