The Scarlet Letter

South Korean prosecutors are demanding that a popular actress be thrown in jail for a year and a half for having an affair. Ok So-ri admitted to the affair with a singer and called for the government to overturn an anti-adultery law enacted fifty years ago to protect women in a male-dominated society. Ok's lawyers said in a petition to the Constitutional Court, "The adultery law ... has degenerated into a means of revenge by the spouse, rather than a means of saving a marriage." [Reuters]
