The film rights for Donna Tartt's 700+ page Pulizter Prize-winning novel The Goldfinch have been acquired by Warner Bros. Whether or not an actual movie will be produced remains to be seen: Tartt's The Secret History was optioned and has yet to make it to the screen.
I like to think that The Secret History is languishing because they can't find actors insufferable enough to play the young people in the story. But that's just me. I would have trouble not being sarcastic through the whole movie. The Goldfinch, on the otherhand - I'd be tempted to go to that film just to see who was cast as Boris. Boris casting will make or break the film.
