Watching last night's SNL was like eating plain yogurt in that it was somehow satisfying even though all you could taste was your own breath. Strangely, with so many opportunities for jokes about Josh Brolin's alcoholism, the episode was pretty tame. A "Laser Cats" sketch directed by Steven Spielberg has gotten some play this morning, but it's slow and really just a long, occasional funny mash-up of lines from real Steven Spielberg movies. For a few hilarious moments in the soap opera parody of California, however, Bill Hader struggled to keep his shit together as Fred Armisen complained with typical West Coast aplomb about navigating the perilous freeway traffic.
Yes! When I visited Cali a few years ago, I couldn't BELIEVE how much time everyone spent talking about what roads to take to get places. Places that they go to ALL THE TIME. Also, "The" 5? Can someone please explain this to me? In NY, we just say the number!
