Suspect IDed in Mass Stabbing at Pennsylvania High School

The suspect who went on a stabbing rampage early Wednesday morning at Franklin Regional High School in Pennsylvania has been identified as 16-year-old sophomore Alex Hribal. He has been treated for superficial injuries and was taken into custody.

Hribal’s motive is still unknown, but CBS Pittsburgh reports that he may have been involved in a “threatening” phone call last night that police are investigating. At this point, at least five of his 20 victims, including a security guard who was stabbed, have been released from the hospital. Currently one hospital is reporting that a 17-year-old is on life support and in critical condition, while another hospital is treating two students also in critical condition.

A couple other victims at other hospitals are in serious condition but at this point, all are expected to live. One doctor said most of the stab wounds he saw were made to the lower abdomen and leg and that there seems to be “almost” a pattern to them. The Franklin Regional High School will be closed for the next few days.

Other students are doing fine. One gentleman has taken a selfie as he hangs out – “chills” – at the hospital. Students have said that he’s the one who pulled the fire alarm.
