Illustration for article titled Superfreakonomics

The eminent economist John Maynard Keynes, champion of the working classes and godfather of your stimulus package, kept obsessive little black books of his gay conquests. The first has names and/or descriptions — "16-year-old under Etna", for instance, and "Jew boy" — but the second has only codes (C, A, and W) and grades (70-104.) And apparently: "no one yet has been prurient enough to crack it." We bet we know some fucking dykes who are! [More Intelligent Life]

16-year-olds in the early 1900s were not like 16-year-olds now. They worked and weren't in school. So the difference between a 20-something guy, like Keynes was, and a 16-year-old boy at the time would be more comparable to a 23-year-old dating a 30-year-old now.
