"Some people probably imagine it's all hunks in togas fanning you with giant leaves, feeding you grapes as you lay on the divan all day long. But sometimes the reality is more like opening the reader mail and getting lonely dispatches from the red states that are tragicomic, semi-literate cries for help." So says the former Senior Editor of Playgirl Magazine, Colleen Kane, in her awesome, hilarious interview with Gothamist. [Gothamist]
Apparently Colleen is moving to Baton Rouge. I think she'll be pleasantly surprised. It's got nothing on NYC, but for Louisiana, it's actually kind of a cool town. BR is a lot less po-dunk than people may think, and almost nobody has a country accent. I sort of prefer it over Memphis. At times.
