Sign Of The Mediapocalypse #412: Bristol Palin To Play Herself On TV
LatestABC announced today that Bristol Palin will play herself on The Secret Life of the American Teenager. The news underscores what a private life the Palin children lead, and how unfair it is to talk about them in the media.
Bristol will appear as a friend Amy’s character meets at a camp for teen moms. She says, “I am thrilled to be on this show and to be part of a program that educates teens and young adults about the consequences of teen pregnancy.” Presumably her abstinence message is what separates her appearance, at least in her family’s mind, from Levi Johnston’s publicity antics or Obama’s supposed status as a “celebrity” President. And while putting her real daughter on television may seem like an attempt by Sarah Palin to wrest control of the media narrative from the likes of Family Guy, we really hope Bristol herself is the famewhore here. Because otherwise it’s just sad.
