A group of women are suing a Kardashian-approved waist trainer company for promising results that their product has (alarmingly) not delivered.
The women who filed the lawsuit alleging that the Waist Gang Society’s Reshaping Waistshaper is a sham. Or as TMZ so artfully puts it, the plaintiffs “say they got burned but their fat didn’t.” Meanwhile, the brand’s “Health Tips” section contains tons of photos of Kim and Khloe Kardashian wearing its trainers.
The company (founded by a woman known as PreMadonna) describes the Reshaping Waistshaper as “a unique latex material which attacks unwanted fat and impurities within your body” and also states that it’s designed to “help to reduce food volume intake which will help acheive [sic] the healthier practice of smaller meals, more often, rather than three large meals a day.”
The lawsuit claims the advertising for the product is misleading, quoting a doctor who says, “Corsets do not cause you to permanently lose fat in the midsection: they cause a re-distribution of the fat and organs in the trunk.” It promises to give consumers an hourglass figure, but it seems for the women suing it’s mission not accomplished.
Plenty of doctors have warned against the dangers and misconceptions of waist/corset training, but plenty of celebs continue to promote and shill for companies like this nonetheless.
