Sexually Harassing Mayor Wisely Axed From Benefit for Rape Survivors

ICYMI: San Diego mayor Bob Filner was slated to deliver the keynote address at a benefit for survivors of military sexual assault. At the benefit, he was supposed to receive a lifetime achievement award. Then, a few women came forward and pointed out that the only award Filner should get vis a vis unwanted sexual attention and ladies is one for the exceptional amount of unwanted sexual attention he’s lavished on women over the years. Awkward, awkward, awkward.

Thankfully, after the sexual harassment allegations came to light, it was only a matter of several days (again, awkward) before the organization sponsoring the benefit revoked Filner’s invitation. According to TPM, he’s still welcome to attend the benefit, just — no talky. In the meantime, despite calls from the people of San Diego, Filner says he won’t resign. What’s it called when your mayor keeps mayoring after you tell him to stop?
