As promised by me and delivered by tennis queen Serena Williams, the lid was in fact blown off the Australian Open. And that is because Williams - the world number one - won. Williams earned her 19th Grand Slam title early this morning by beating Russia's Maria Sharapova, (the world number two). This was the 16th time in a row Williams has beaten Sharapova since 2004.

And not only that but our girl wasn't even feeling well!

From ESPN:

She struggled with a hacking cough, she was sick, and she twice celebrated too early, but she held her composure in a 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory on Saturday.

On her third match point, she let her racket go before hearing a let call to what she thought was an ace.

So here's to 19 more Grand Slam titles, Serena. You did my juju proud today.
