Sen. Feinstein Doesn't Appreciate Being Patronized by Patronizing Tea Party Senator

Latest

Grab some popcorn and get ready to yell at your computer screen, because things got HEATED today at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the proposed assault weapons ban authored by Dianne Feinstein, the senior Senator from California.

When newly elected Texas Tea Party (which is a lot less fun than it sounds, party-wise) Senator Ted Cruz queried Feinstein on whether she’d back similar exceptions to the First and Fourth Amendments (her ban covers 157 different models of assault weapons, as well as magazines containing more than 10 bullets), a p.o.’ed Feinstein corrected him but quick:

“I’m not a sixth grader,” Feinstein said. “Senator, I’ve been on this committee for 20 years. I was a mayor for nine years. I walked in – I saw people shot. I’ve looked at bodies that have been shot with these weapons. I’ve seen the bullets that implode. In Sandy Hook, youngsters were dismembered.”

She went on to sanely explain that “there are different tests for different amendments.”

The proposed bill passed committee in a 10 (all the Democrats)-8 (all the Republicans) vote, and will now head to the Senate floor, where it will almost surely be defeated.

Oh, and one of the top YouTube comments on the above video?

Ted Cruz made the cunt rage. I love it. ‘Nuff said.

Later in the day, Feinstein told CNN‘s Wolf Blitzer that she “felt patronized,” by the patronizing Cruz.
