See Pixar's Feministy Trailer For Brave

Today Pixar released the trailer for Brave, its thirteenth film and first with a female lead. According to the description:

Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin, surly Lord Macintosh and cantankerous Lord Dingwall. Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

The trailer features scenes of our little Arya Stark wielding a bow and arrow, plenty of Scottish accents, and the requisite fart joke (everyone knows boys will not watch a film that does not meet their flatulence quota). There's no sign that this wraps up with a fairytale wedding for Merida, so we're excited.

I know that joke about boys and fart jokes MUST be parody (either of pixar in specific or gender stereotypes in general), because I KNOW Jezebel would never, ever condone pigeon-holing all boys into the "likes bathroom humor" category.

(No, really, I am hoping this was a well deserved mocking of Pixar, who should know better... that being said, I have met plenty of little girls that like bathroom humor too...)
