Scientist Defends DNA Analysis In Amanda Knox Conviction, Threatens To Sue
LatestOn the eve of another hearing in Amanda Knox’s appeal, the forensic scientist who conducted the DNA analysis that helped convict her is bashing an independent review that found her results unreliable. Last month, two experts from Rome’s Sapienza University said DNA collected from a kitchen knife and a bra clasp should be rejected because police forensic scientist Patrizia Stefanoni failed to follow international DNA protocols and made various other errors. Now she’s responded:
“I am angry about the false statements in this report and ready to come to court to highlight the past record of these experts … I am also looking into taking legal action against them. What international DNA protocols are they talking about? The Italian police is a member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI), while they are not.”
