Mahopac, New York Board of Education President Ray Cote has quit his job after a video of a comment he made about a parent's weight during a board meeting was posted on YouTube.
Apparently not realizing he was being recorded, Cote described a parent in attendance as "a chubby wubby," adding, "she keeps getting fatter and fatter every meeting." Onlooker Deena Bell (who posted the video of Cote's comments) told ABC News that "It totally tells us that he cares nothing for the community that he says he upholds. Nothing. He cares nothing for us."
"I would like to apologize for my choice of words after the close of the board meeting on April 8th which are regretful," said Cote in his resignation letter (which Bell found "coldhearted"). "My words were inappropriate and do not reflect my feelings or attitudes. I will strive to regain the trust and respect of the community."
The final dried fruit inside of the spotted dick that is this story: Cote was actually in charge of a diversity and sensitivity team founded after several Mahopac High School students were suspended for sending out racist tweets following a basketball game.
