Sarah Palin Prefers Her Version Of Paul Revere Story

You gotta hand it to Sarah Palin.

Even when she makes a mistake, she not only says “I meant to do that”, but also throws in a “Actually, I was right and here are some things I’m going to make up on the spot in order to prove it”, free of charge.

So when Palin’s “version” of Paul Revere’s ride swept the internet last week, Palin didn’t dream of backing down.

Still, (if you haven’t heard the quote) you’d think she might want to clarify a word or two:

“He who warned the British that they weren’t going to be taking away our arms, by ringing those bells, and making sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be secure and we were going to be free.”

But, of course, you’d be wrong. She does not.

On “Fox News Sunday,” the host Chris Wallace asked Ms. Palin, a paid Fox News contributor, about her Paul Revere answer, saying, “You realize that you messed up about Paul Revere, don’t you?”

She responded that no, she did not believe she was mistaken.

“You know what? I didn’t mess up about Paul Revere,” she said. “Here is what Paul Revere did. He warned the Americans that the British were coming, the British were coming, and they were going to try take our arms and we got to make sure that we were protecting ourselves and shoring up all of ammunitions and our firearms so that they couldn’t take it.

She went on: “But remember that the British had already been there, many soldiers for seven years in that area. And part of Paul Revere’s ride – and it wasn’t just one ride – he was a courier, he was a messenger. Part of his ride was to warn the British that we’re already there. That, hey, you’re not going to succeed. You’re not going to take American arms. You are not going to beat our own well-armed persons, individual, private militia that we have. He did warn the British.”

Referring to the answer she gave in Boston, she added: “In a shout-out, gotcha type of question that was asked of me, I answered candidly. And I know my American history.”

Lanterns, bells, it’s all the same! The point is, Palin knows what she thinks happened in American history and no one can ever take that away from her (unfortunately).
