Sandra Fluke on Weddings, Georgetown, and Feminist Porn

Illustration for article titled Sandra Fluke on Weddings, Georgetown, and Feminist Porn

The New York Times Magazine interviewed Sandra Fluke — one of our Jezebel 25 honorees! — who, as always, had some very wise things to say on topics ranging from Rush Limbaugh's popularity ("There's an audience for this type of sexist vitriol. There is real hate and sexism within our society that we have to do something about.") to why she chose Georgetown:

You're saying I should have read the admissions literature more closely? I made the choice to go to Georgetown based on the factors that most students take into account. They offered me a scholarship, and they have the best public-interest law program that I saw, and they have some really fabulous faculty around feminist jurisprudence. It's unfortunate that women have to choose between comprehensive affordable health care and the best quality education they can have.

Sandra also discussed pornography (she likes the idea of feminist porn, but she's never seen any) and her upcoming "joyous interfaith egalitarian festival." (She will not be wearing a gown because she is "firmly opposed to very large skirts." Swoon.)

Hmm... I'm not sure if the comment about porn was sarcastic or meant to be taken at face value. I'm hoping it's the latter, because I've seen feminist porn and it is quite awesome.
